THE BENNINGTON HEIRESS

Upmarket Women's Fiction

Seeking Representation

Forty-year-old jewelry entrepreneur Ellie Primrose has prioritized her career above all else and kept a very organized existence in Chicago, IL. That life takes a sharp turn when she learns that her estranged grandfather gifted her his historic Gilded Age coastal mansion in Beverly, Massachusetts. Shocked by this revelation, Ellie assumed it had to be a mistake as the manufacturing tycoon abandoned her pregnant grandmother during the 1960s, rejecting his unborn son.  Ellie learns that to inherit the New England home, it must become her primary residence and that it must remain in her line. Resentful at first at her grandfather’s obvious snub toward her father, Ellie is later convinced by her parents to accept the opportunity but soon finds that her inheritance will mean more than acquiring a new home.

Upon moving into Bennington Mansion, Ellie soon discovers that there are more than just the residual ghosts of an American dynasty in the home; she uncovers secrets of harassment, abuse, and hidden family members. Ellie sets out to right the wrongs of her grandfather’s past and renovate the moody mansion, determined to rebuild the Bennington family legacy that Arthur left behind. Yet her mission is plagued by trepidation… to truly heal her family, Ellie must locate these mysterious relatives - knowing she may face rejection simply because of her inheritance.  Adding to the complications of Ellie’s new hectic life is Jesse Griffon, her tech-entrepreneur neighbor who quickly becomes her champion and an untimely love interest as a slow burn develops between them, forcing Ellie to open up to the idea that a life outside her workaholic and carefully curated schedule could exist.
